INDORE The Cleanest City was Founded in 16th Century as Trading Hub Between Deccan & Delhi. Indore Came Under Maratha Empire on 18 May 1724 after Peshwa Baji Rao I assumed control of Malwa. Zamindar Rao Nandlal Chaudhary was founder of Indore. Landowners erected Indreshwar Temple from which name Indore is derived which is influenced By Malwa, Maratha & Marwari Cultures. It’s beautified variation in food & architecture from other places are a result of interesting background raising BEAUTIFUL INDORE 
Families of indore landlords led luxurious life & they retained their possessions of royalty like elephant, Nishan,Danka & Gadi even after advent of Holkars & right of performing 1st Puja of Dussehra
In 1713, Deccan plateau was handed over to Nizam.
Rao Nandlal Chaudhary. Chief Zamindar had Army of 2000 Soldiers. On bank of River Saraswati, Rao Sb. found a location surrounded by rivers on all sides. To protect his people from harassment by Invaders he moved people to this place & constructed Fort of Shree Sansthan Bada Rawala. Peshwas appointed Malhar Rao Holkar as Subhedar which was beginning of Holkars’ reign in Malwa.
In 1733, Holkar Dynasty Founder, Malhar Rao Holkar (1694-1766), was appointed Governor of region.He was succeeded by his daughter-in-law Ahilyabai Holkar (1767-1795). She ruled from Palace Fort at Maheshwar, near Indore.
Ahilyabai had passion for architecture & donated money for construction of temples across subcontinent. In 1818 Holkars were defeated by British in 3rd AngloMaratha War & Holkar kingdom became a part of British Empire. Cantonment town of MHOW was handed to British !
Indore flourished & walked a long road. With every year city has incorporated a lot from west & yet has managed to maintain its ground beliefs & ethics. Indore is one of the cleanest & has been rated as fastest growing city as well & yet happens to proudly stand with its nascent culture & celebrates it with all retreat to rich history & heritage. Indorians love to be Desi,essence of which can be found in every aspect of their living.
